When I returned the car 3 weeks later, I was charged over $600 for insurance, although I was told it was $21.99 per week. It was $21.99 per day!!!!! They originally only put through a 1 day rental, they didn't tell me that. Why would I rent a car for one day after totaling mine? I signed the papers based on what I was told. Do not trust them. You wreck your car and they take advantage of you in your time of need. The regional manager, Mr. Henry, was of no help and completely unconcerned with the way things were handled.
Great Hertz rental location, they always have my reserved car ready, offer me available upgrades and quick in and out
I am notifying the Better Business Bureau of the underhanded, dishonest business practices that they engage in. I notice the same complaint about other Hertz locations in NJ. Is this the way the entire company does business?

Hertz was recommended as a preferred vendor, by my insurance company, when my car was totaled. When I picked up the car, the day after the accident, I said I would need it at least a week, as the insurance wouldn't be issuing me a check before then. (That's a given, right?) I took the extra insurance as a safeguard, after explaining that I had limited funds, I was told this would cover the $500 deductible should anything happen, and was told and charged $21.99.
